Learning Objectives: Learn about VIOS configuration options and determine how to select the Power System configurations that meet your requirements. Learn about Virtual SCSI and NPIV storage connection options and identify the best option for your environment. Learn best practices for optimizing storage performance on IBM i LPARs hosted by VIOS. Understand the key design considerations for creating a highly available virtualized network. Installing VIOS can be done successfully in a few simple steps. In this session, you will receive a step by step guide for installing VIOS and making it available to host your IBM i, AIX, and Linux partitions on Power Systems. This session will also cover easy way to configure disk and tape solutions on VIOS and client partitions like IBM i. Using the HMC browser, you can perform most of the configuration steps without touching the AIX-like command line interface. If you don’t have AIX skills and want to setup VIOS without getting hurt, this session is for you!
