A private cloud provides many benefits including rapid deployment of servers while maintaining control over access and data. PowerVC can be a powerful tool to quickly create temporary test environments or deploy and manage permanent servers. We will walk through the steps used to build, capture, and deploy a IBM i server image. Cloud-init is the post deployment process that is used to customize a newly deployed instance. After the build and capture of the basic image we will cover the steps required to customize cloud-init so that it will call IBM i CL Programs after the successful deploy of an image. The session will end with a demo of the capture and deploy of an existing IBM i server.
